One of the best summer flowering shrubs for shade producing a dense, upright, mounding, suckering shrub covered in bold textured, bright green foliage that turns an amazing golden yellow in autumn. Attractive, 6 to 12-inch tall, white flower panicles appear mid-summer and may produce inedible buckeye nuts. This plant makes an excellent hedge in shady, woodland areas or near wetlands preferring moist soil. Combine with ferns, Hosta, sedges, and bleeding hearts.
