A large, deciduous conifer closely related to dawn redwoods producing an attractive, pyramidal canopy covered in light green, feathery, soft needles through the summer, turning orange to reddish brown in fall before dropping. Their broad, fluted trunk develops distinctive, knobby root protrusions or knees in wetter sites. Use bald cypress in open areas or as a large specimen in wet soils or near rain gardens. They are tolerant of moist soils to wet, clay soil and air pollution. 'Falling Waters' has a strongly weeping habit, which limits the eventual height and creates and interesting specimen.
