Castor-Aralia is an uncommon tree with 8-10 inch large deeply lobed glossy green leaves, which turn an unremarkable yellow in fall. large clusters of white flowers appear in late July, attractive to pollinators. Small black fruit in October is quickly consumed by birds. Branches are thorny. Young trees are upright and open, and develop a wide rounded form with age. Bark becomes atractively furrowed with age.
