Centaurea montana A true garden classic, Perennial Bachelor's Button or Cornflowers possess interesting, fringed petals and central black tipped bracts. When in full bloom, they exude a luscious peach fragrance. Foliage is an attractive gray-green with a soft, silvery fuzz that keeps the deer away. Perfect for a cottage or cutting garden. 'Amethyst Dream' produces vibrant, violet-purple flowers. Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week, for the first year. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage repeat blooms. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
