Lewisia cotyledon 'Elise'

Lewisia is a fantastic, spring-blooming, rock garden plant that forms low rosettes of green, succulent leaves over which multicolor, star-shaped flowers bloom. It requires excellent drainage and is drought tolerant, once established. 'Elise' blooms with lovely, open sprays of orange, white, yellow, and bi-color flowers. Try growing Lewisia in sunny, but cool, containers to extend their bloom period. Plant in well-drained, dry soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week, for the first year. Apply granular, slow-release fertilizer according to package instructions. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring and summer, if/when necessary.
