Joe Pye Weed 'Gateway' 2 Gallon

Eupatorium maculatum or Eutrochium maculatum

This is a showy, bushy variety of the classic Joe Pye weed that produces a strong, wine colored stems topped with 12" wide rosy mauve to lavender pink, clustered blooms in July to September for the middle or back border. Joy Pye is native to North America, excellent for raingardens and pollinators. Combine with milkweed, Switch Grass, and Asters. Plant in well-drained, but moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like compost and planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
