Goldenrod 'Little Lemon' 1 Gallon

Goldenrod 'Little Lemon' 1 Gallon

Solidago hybrid

Garden-friendly and gardener-friendly in a variety of ways, cultivated Goldenrod is a bushy, compact perennial that produces attractive, golden yellow panicles on sturdy stems. It is much easier to fit in the perennial border than the common, 6ft tall, native goldenrod, and it still serves the gardener well as an excellent source of late summer and fall color, not to mention the pollinator population with its rich source of late season nectar and pollen. Note: Goldenrod does not cause hay fever; unfortunately, it is often confused for wind-pollinating Ragweed, which is the true culprit of allergies. Goldenrod is visually superior with its brighty, fluffy, fuzzy yellow flowers, whereas as Ragweed displays stringy flowers that are more of a light green than a true yellow. Plant in well-drained to dry, low-fertility soil amended with organic matter. Water well after planting, and maintain 1" of water, once per week, for the first year. Fertilize in spring and reapply in summer. Deadhead spent flowers for a neat appearance. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring if/when necessary.
