Hosta A showy, medium to large variety with distinctive deep green foliage set off by thick, wavy, cream to white leaf margins with 30" tall, lavender flower scapes that bloom in late summer. A sport of 'Francee' that can take some direct sun or shade with consistent soil moisture. Chosen as American Hosta Growers Hosta of the Year in 1997. Hostas can be used in shady containers or landscapes, under established shade trees, on slopes to retain soil, and provide excellent foliage texture and color for three seasons in the garden. Combine with coral bells, bleeding hearts, and Astilbe. Plant in well-drained, moist to average soil amended with organic matter like compost or planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Fertilize in spring and again in summer with a slow release fertilizer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
