Hostas, also known as Plantain Lily, are a large, diverse perennial family of clump-forming plants with bold foliage in various shades of color, patterns, and sizes. Many also produce flowers that exude a strong perfume. Hostas are one of the easiest-to-grow shade plants for the landscape and container garden. 'All Gold' offers deep golden yellow leaves and spikes of lavender flowers in summer. Pairs well with Coral Bells, Columbine, Lungwort, Lenten Rose, and Bleeding Heart. Plant in well-drained to moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Deadhead spent flower stems for neat appearance. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
